Head of John the Baptist on a Platter (bronze sculpture)

In 2025, I was approached by a client representing the Russian Orthodox Church with a request to develop, sculpt and produce a bronze sculpture of Head of John the Baptist on a platter. The beheading of John the Baptist is a biblical event commemorated as a holy day by various Christian churches and represented in a wide variety of Christian art. The client asked me to use as a reference the prominent sculpture of Mark Antokolsky (1840-1902) on the very same topic. Taking this into account, I designed and sculpted a 3D model of this sculptural composition in ZBrush. Then, the model was 3D printed and used for bronze casting. The weight of the produced bronze sculpture is 35 kg, while the dimensions are 56 * 23 * 64 cm.
